Following recommendations made by a government-commissioned independent review panel the teaching qualifications have been simplified and renamed. This qualification replaces the Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector. A revised teaching qualification, including the introduction of licensed practitioner status and the distinction between full and associate teachers remaining in good standing as practitioners, to include mandatory continuing professional development. If you fall within one of the categories below, and do not have a teaching qualification, then the level 3 award in Education & Training is a good place to start.

Successful candidates will be able to:

  • Understand their own role, responsibilities and boundaries of role in relation to teaching
  • Understand appropriate teaching and learning approaches within a specialist area
  • Demonstrate their session planning skills – plan deliver, observe and evaluate a micro-teach session
  • Understand appropriate teaching and learning approaches within a specialist area
  • Understand how to deliver inclusive sessions that motivate learners
  • Understand the use of different assessment methods
  • Understand and analyse the need for accurate record keeping and procedures that can be adopted – including internal and external assessment information

Assessment: Two MCQ examinations and one assignment (including a micro teaching session).

Level 3 Award in Education and Training is a must for anyone wishing to gain a professional recognized teaching qualification. Ofqual Regulated.
